Wednesday 29th September, 2021 is World School Milk Day and the P3 class of Acorn Primary School in Carrickfergus raise a glass of milk to say ‘cheers’ to the return of school term and with it, the return of break time milk!
The Dairy Council for Northern Ireland says that more than 55% of primary and special education schools across Northern Ireland receive school milk. A refreshing drink of milk at break time provides a powerful boost to meeting children’s nutrient needs.
A carton of milk will provide more than half of a five–year–old child’s calcium, phosphorus and vitamin B2 requirements, along with a third of their protein needs.
