Progressive at the heart of the local community
In an effort to improve cardiac arrest survival rates and in line with the Department of Health’s Community Resuscitation strategy, Progressive Building Society has announced the installation of defibrillators into each of its 12 branches across Northern Ireland.
Speaking about the community scheme, Darina Armstrong, Progressive Building Society Chief Executive said, “Operating for over 100 years, Progressive has a strong presence across Northern Ireland and we are committed to supporting the communities which we serve. This recent initiative will increase access to important lifesaving equipment and is a reflection of our commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of society.”
Over the last number of months, Progressive staff members have been trained in the use of the defibrillators which will be fully accessible to the community throughout the branches’ opening hours.
Supporting the announcement Sinead Lynch, Corporate Fundraising Executive of Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke said, “It is fantastic that Progressive Building Society have installed defibrillators in their branches. This life saving equipment will be available to the community and improve survival rates for those who suffer out–of–hospital cardiac arrests. We are encouraging all organisations and communities who have installed a defibrillator to register it with Ambulance Headquarters to assist them in compiling a database of the locations of all defibrillators in Northern Ireland.”
