Lagan Homes (NI) Ltd, part of the Lagan Group, has announced that it is developing one of the largest residential developments ever built in Belfast, worth an estimated £120M.

Millmount Village in East Belfast is a 90 acre site that will provide up to 700 new homes supporting the strategic need for the development of more houses in Greater Belfast and across Northern Ireland.   The project is set to employ 100 people for the next 10 years.

Construction at Millmount Village, which is located off the Comber Road has already seen the completion of 80 homes with families taking up residence in August and September.

The project follows the announcement earlier this year that Lagan Homes (NI) Ltd is developing a £90M, 550 housing project in Bangor.

Commenting on the development and the need for quality housing across Northern Ireland, Conor Mulligan, Managing Director, Lagan Homes (NI) Ltd said, “Millmount represents one of the most significant planned housing developments ever to be built in Northern Ireland.  The location, infrastructure, amenities and access to the key hub of Belfast City Centre has already generated huge interest.

“The project is good news for both the growing demand for family homes in Belfast and for the building sector with local tradesmen and operators being employed on the site for the next ten years.

“The growing demand for housing in Northern Ireland has been well documented, with less than half of the projected need over the last 8 years having been delivered.  Undersupply is in the region of around 40,000 homes, so projects like Millmount and our new sites in Bangor are crucial to helping address that residential need in key Northern Ireland locations.

“The new project will create a strategic link road between the Comber and Newtownards Roads’ and with Millmount’s quality, affordability and location we are already experiencing significant demand and we expect that to increase further with the opening of the Show House this Sunday.”
