The deal worth £500,000 will see Electric Ireland supply 5.8Gwh’s of energy, the equivalent electricity needed to power 1,500 homes, to Delta’s 200,000 sq ft site in West Belfast.

Delta Packaging which extensively extended its Belfast site in 2014 as part of a £40m five year investment programme will use Electric Ireland’s Business Online service as part of the offering which will enable the business to continuously review its energy usage by viewing and downloading online billing and consumption data and produce frequent consumption reports.

Commenting on the contract win Electric Ireland’s Business Markets Manager, Tony Dunlea said, “We are pleased to have been chosen by Delta Packaging to partner with them for their Belfast based manufacturing facility. We’re always looking for ways to differentiate ourselves and provide ideas to help make life better for our customers and we’re dedicated to ensuring that our business solutions are simple and transparent. This contract is testament to our competitive pricing, flexible energy products, positive customer relationships and value added services.

“At Electric Ireland we are committed to supporting businesses across Northern Ireland by providing competitive offers, improving their efficiency and helping to support their growth. We have structured this contract in a way which will enable Delta Packaging to save time and resources and reduce energy usage with online consumption reporting which will help to implement efficiency initiatives for the company in the months ahead.”

Patrick McGibbon, Finance Director, Delta Packaging said, “Our Belfast manufacturing operation has been expanded recently to become one of the largest carton converting sites within the UK.  Although, we have invested in our capacity and strengthened our capability to offer a more competitive solution to markets across Europe, we have also invested significantly in the company’s environmental rating, having achieved ISO 14001 and soon to achieve ISO 50001.  Our contract with Electric Ireland is a competitive 100% green energy supply agreement, which along with the on-line monitoring tools available, will complement the company’s cost control programmes within an environmentally friendly facility.”
