Translink is sailing into the summer season with some great value travel offers to encourage passengers to make the smart move to bus or train this summer and take advantage of all of the exciting events and festivals taking place across Northern Ireland.

To help people learn more about what’s on offer, Translink has teamed up with its charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support to host a pirate themed event complete with a Smart Moves rowing challenge at Belfast City Hall on Friday 12th June.

Lynda Shannon, Translink Communications Manager said, “As partner of the Tall Ships race that will dock in Belfast in July, we thought it was perfect timing to host our very own nautical Summer Smart Movers event. As well as a range of activities planned, we will be letting people know about our ‘smart’ summer deals and what makes using the bus and train a great day out such as getting to spend more quality time with family and friends or simply enjoy the wonderful scenery across Northern Ireland -you get a whole new perspective on board the bus or train!

“Supported by Macmillan, together, we will also be able to raise money for our charity partner through our charity rowing challenge with Ian Young, Functional Fitness and Conditioning Specialist.  For the kids, there will also be free face painting, balloon modelling and an arts & crafts workshop.  Citybeat’s Stephen Clements will be our host for the day, so why not join us on Friday 12th June from 12-2pm.

“There is so much going on in Northern Ireland this summer including major events like Tall Ships, Festival of Flight, Feile an Phobail, Portrush Airshow, or Tennents Vital - choosing the bus or train is a great value day out  to experience all the great sights, sounds and tastes that Northern Ireland has on offer.   Visit our website for further information or download our journey planner app to make it easy to plan your day out,” she concluded.
