Statement issued on behalf of Ulster GAA

“The Casement Park Project Board welcomes the ongoing positive progress with the members of the Casement Park Social Club and the unanimous approval by the Social Club of the arrangements around the temporary premises for the Club during the redevelopment of the Stadium. Furthermore, we welcome the Social Club’s endorsement of the project and look forward to ongoing engagement with the members. The Project Board remains committed to working in partnership with all relevant bodies and the local community as part of the ongoing development process for the delivery of the new provincial stadium”.

Statement issued on behalf of Casement Social Club

A special meeting of Casement Social Club members held on the club premises on Monday 11th August 2014 at 8.15, was attended by Peter Quinn, Ulster Council/Casement Park Project Board and Damian Heron, Heron Brothers Construction. At this meeting it was confirmed that Casement Social Club would relocate to temporary premises behind Owenvaragh Shops for a period of approximately two and half years before relocating to a permanent location within in the newly redeveloped Casement Park.

Damian Heron gave a Power Point presentation of the proposed lay out of the temporary premises and indicated the proposed location and area of Casement Social Club on the first floor of the new development, which will front onto the Andersonstown Road.

Peter Quinn answered questions from the floor in a comprehensive manner which qualified and allayed any concerns that the members may have had regarding the agreement previously negotiated between Ulster Council, Casement Park Project Board, Antrim County Board and Casement Social Club.

The presentation, question and answer session was greeted with loud applause of unanimous approval from the members present.

The Committee and Members of Casement Social Club would like to thank Mr. Quinn and Mr. Heron for their time and effort in working as partners with the club in securing the future of Casement Social Club for the Gaels of Antrim. The sole aim of the committee of Casement Social Club since taking control of the club in the High Court, exactly one year ago this week was to preserve the club both in the short term and long term.
