Translink has made it easier for local and international visitors to navigate Northern Ireland’s spectacular Causeway coast and Glens with the introduction of a special bus and train guide specifically for the area.

To celebrate the launch of the new Causeway Coast and Glens travel guide renowned local story teller Liz Weir will host a Life’s Better special journey for passengers to experience Northern Ireland’s picturesque Causeway Coast.

The new guide will make getting around the Causeway Coast and Glens area straightforward for both visitors and passengers alike with a number of ideas for great day trips along with appropriate bus and train timetables, great value tickets and a host of special offers.

Lynda Shannon, Translink Communications Manager explained, “The guide has been developed with help from Moyle District Council and Ballycastle Chamber of Commerce to make this North Causeway Coast area more accessible for visitors from both home and abroad. People will be able to use the new guide to plan fun days out to iconic visitor attractions like the Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-rede rope bridge as well as get to some of our great beaches like Ballycastle and Portrush.

“With the added benefit of special discounts including a discounted Green Travel Admission ticket at the Causeway Visitor Centre passengers can enjoy a relaxing journey via bus, coach or train without the hassle of driving.

“A number of lucky passengers will also have the opportunity to experience a Life’s Better special journey with story teller Liz Weir on Saturday 14 June. The special ticketed Translink journey will depart from Coleraine bus and rail centre with Liz Weir entertaining passengers with myths and legends about the area as the coach makes its way to the idyllic seaside town of Ballycastle.”

Kerrie McGonigle, Tourism Development Manager of Moyle District Council commented “We want to encourage more and more people to experience the great visitor attractions that the Causeway Coast and Glens has to offer.  We have been pleased to work alongside Translink on this new travel guide; we hope it has something for everyone whether you’re looking for history, heritage, a scenic walk or just to relax on the beach with family and friends. We have also secured a range of special offers for anyone visiting Ballycastle  - many of the local shops and restaurants are offering discounts for anyone with a valid Translink ticket – so we are looking forward to welcoming more visitors to the town over the summer period.

Liz Weir will host a Translink ‘Life’s Better’ special journey on Saturday 14th June from Coleraine to Ballycastle on board a Goldline coach.
