Building Societies and NI Economy key focus at Progressive event

The role of mutuals' and their distinct economic contribution to communities throughout Northern Ireland was the key focus of an event held in Stormont hosted by The Building Societies Association (BSA) and Progressive Building Society, NI’s largest locally owned financial institution.

Professor Neil Gibson provided an independent view on the local economy as well as a detailed assessment of the lending challenges and opportunities across the broad Northern Ireland economy. The BSA also announced the findings of a recent report ‘mutuals’ role in local & community development’ and provided an overview of the impact of EU and UK laws upon them.
