Progressive announces new Chairman

Progressive Building Society which has a branch in Derry~Londonderry has announced the appointment of its new Chairman, Mr John Trethowan.

For over 40 years Mr Trethowan has been involved with both public and private enterprises throughout Ireland. Having joined the board of Northern Ireland’s largest locally owned building society in 2012 Mr Trethowan will now lead the Progressive Board in this its centenary year.

A native of Belfast, Mr Trethowan retired from an executive position in banking in 2007 and currently serves as Chair of the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company and also serves as Head of the Credit Review Office in Ireland.

Speaking about the appointment Darina Armstrong, Chief Executive of Progressive Building Society said, “John is a highly respected professional in his field and has had a hugely successful career working in the banking sector throughout Ireland. We are delighted with John’s appointment as  Chairman of Progressive Building Society and look forward to his insight and counsel which will be incredibly valuable to the board, our employees and our members.”

Mr Trethowan will take charge of Progressive’s AGM to be held on 29th April 2014 at 3.00pm in Riddel Hall, Queens University, Belfast.
