“The announcement this morning by the Irish government that they have fully met our requirements for a state of the art organ donation system will save many, many lives. Professor Egan at the National Transplant Office finally has the resources he needs at his disposal. The €3 million per annum and nineteen full time organ donation personnel brings us into line with the world leaders in this area. Special thanks to Jerry Buttimer TD, John O'Mahony TD, Minister Reilly and the Taoiseach himself who took a genuine, personal interest in this. We are overwhelmed by the speed at which this has been achieved and elated at the many lives that will be transformed as a result.”
