Anna Smyth, Macmillan Cancer Support volunteer, Elizabeth Breadon, Translink bus driver and Carol Lundy, Translink Brand Manager get their walking gear on ahead of this Saturday’s (9th November) Belfast City Hall Circuit Challenge. Members of the public are being invited to walk laps of the City Hall between 2-4pm with the aim of reaching a combined 500 laps to raise money for the charity.
Carol Lundy, Translink Brand Manager said, “We are delighted to work in partnership with Macmillan to help raise funds for our chosen charity and highlight how using passenger transport can give you a better lifestyle. Lots of Translink staff plan to take part in next Saturday’s challenge and we are urging our passengers and the wider public to join us for a lap or two of the City Hall.
“This challenge forms part of our Life’s Better campaign promoting the consumer benefits leading more and more people to make the bus and train their preferred way to travel. We hear many reasons from our customers why Life’s better on board including giving people more time to relax and unwind from the stress of driving, more time to catch up on work or social activities making use of free wifi on board trains and coaches, reduced journey times, as well as money savings compared to paying for fuel and parking
“As well as helping to raise vital funds for our chosen charity, this event is a way to promote walking to the bus or train as a great way of working regular exercise into your day in order to reach those recommended 10,000 steps and improve your health – another benefit making Life Better travelling on the bus or train,” concluded Carol.
To participate in the walk simply pay £1 and all donations will go to Macmillan. You can come along to the City Hall at any time between 2pm and 4pm to take part. Macmillan volunteers will also be fundraising at a number of Translink stations across the network.Text LINK25 £5 to 70070 to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support and make someone’s life better today.
