The opening act to perform at the Down and Connor Diocesan concert is Cappella Caeciliana, who will bring the audience on a journey of faith with a haunting Hebrew chant harking back to the roots of the faith in Jerusalem. The concert takes place at the Waterfront Hall on Saturday 28th September at 7.30pm
The ‘Celebration of Faith’ concert follows the inaugural Diocesan congress earlier that day at the Waterfront Hall.
Also performing on the evening will be recording sensation The Priests and some of the finest talent from across the diocese including the St Peter’s Schola Cantorum and Irish traditional singer Éamonn Ó Faogáin accompanied by Patrick Davey (ulleann pipes), Loreto McAuley (harp) and Mairead Forde (fiddle).
Commenting on the lineup Fr Alan McGuckian SJ said, “At the end of the Congress day it will be great to gather and celebrate and music, song and dance really help us get in touch with the vibrancy of our faith.”
The concert will also include a newly formed youth choir featuring pupils from the diocese who are coming together especially for the occasion. St. Louise’s School will provide dancers for the evening captivating the audience’s imagination by telling the story and work of the Spirit through the power of dance.
“There is an extraordinary amount of talent in our diocese and we look forward to what promises to be a night full of joy, inspiration and, above all, great entertainment” concluded Fr McGuickan.
The concert is open to both congress delegates and members of the public with tickets (£20) available www.downandconnor.org/livingchurch/events/sing-a-new-song/, in the Veritas DRC in Donegall St., Belfast or contact the Living Church office on 028 90 690920
