BT has today unveiled two new broadband and calls deals specifically tailored for the millions of students living in shared houses in Northern Ireland and across the UK.    Fast, reliable, unlimited broadband is essential for today’s students, but many find it difficult to find a deal that meets their needs.    BT has now introduced two nine month contracts, specifically for students, who typically only need the service from October to June.    Most students need broadband without limits on usage, so both BT’s deals offer “totally unlimited” broadband, with no download limits and BT will not slow the connection down as some providers do, when customers are using bandwidth-eating applications, like streaming films or catch up TV.    Unlimited Infinity 1, fibre optic broadband, with Unlimited Weekend Calls, offers download speeds of up to 38Mb and is £20 a month for nine months*. Unlimited Broadband, with Unlimited Weekend Calls, offers up to 16Mb download speeds at £16 a month fornine months.       Included with each package, is BT’s Home Hub 4 router, with smart dual band technology for a wireless signal that is unbeaten for reliability.   Unlimited Weekend Calls means all calls to UK landlines ** plus calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday are included in the deals.    Both packages allow users to watch the newly launched BT Sport channels for free by streaming all the action to their PCs or Macs using the online player or using the BT Sport app to watch it on their smartphones or tablets***.    Once students have placed an order, they can enter a prize draw to win an “Ultimate entertainment package” worth more than £2000.     There are five packages to be won. Each one consists of a nine month student Unlimited BT Broadband and Unlimited Weekend Calls (or Unlimited BT Infinity if available in the winner’s area) subscription, including all activation and delivery charges, a Samsung PS43F4500 43” Plasma TV,  a Samsung HT-F4500 BluRay Theatre System 5.1 (black), an Xbox 360 S Console 250Gb HDD, a Nikon Coolpix S9050 Digital Camera (compact, 12.1 Mpx, 15.5x optical zoom), four Apple iPod Shuffles (4th Generation September 2012, 2Gb, Silver) and a £300.00 Sainsbury’s voucher.    Conal Duffy, director of BT’s consumer division in Northern Ireland, said: “We think these new BT Infinity and BT Broadband nine month packages will be really popular with students. No usage caps and no download limits and we won’t slow you down – unlike Virgin Media. You can download, stream and game as much as you like and there won’t be any unexpected charges at the end of the month.    “And they’re fantastic value with the Hub 4 included, free access to BT Sport online or with the app, access to BT Wi-Fi at five million UK hotspots, online storage with BT Cloud and the ability to save money on mobile calls with our SmartTalk app.”   BT student broadband customers can save money at weekends on expensive calls from their mobile by using the free BT SmartTalk app^. Using the app, customers are not charged for calls that are included as part of their home calling plan, such as 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 numbers, and can even get free 0800 calls from their smartphone. Customers can also make savings on calls back to the UK from abroad without using any Pay-As-You-Go credit.   All BT broadband packages come with unlimited free access to the world's largest wi-fi network with BT Wi-fi. Users can get online using laptop, netbook, smartphone or tablet free at more than five million public wireless hotspots in the UK and three million more around the world. There are hotspots in coffee shops, high streets, shopping centres, pubs and bars, train stations, airports, city centres and homes.    BT’s student broadband will be available online only at www.bt.com/student.
