Bus passengers throughout Belfast are set to benefit from the return of the special Love Metro Saturdays £2 day ticket (£1 child) which offers unlimited Saturday journeys across all Metro services after 9.30am throughout May and June. 

In addition to the special value fare on offer Metro passengers have the chance to enjoy some fun activities taking place on selected Saturdays across the promotion including the return of the metro deckchairs around the city, a one-off promotion with café chain Ground Espresso and face painting and make up demonstrations at City Hall.

Carol Marsden, Metro Brand Manager said, “Love Metro Saturdays has proved very popular with commuters and so we are particularly pleased to be able to bring the initiative back again for two full months in May and June.  The fare offers super value for money and provides those who do not normally use public transport a great incentive to experience the convenience it can offer.  This year Metro passengers can relax on our Metro deckchairs within the grounds of City Hall and at Cornmarket. We also want to remind passengers that they can be in with a chance to get their hands on a complimentary Metro bag for life upon production of a valid Metro ticket and a Love Metro viewfinder.”

• Saturday 4th May, Festival of Fools at Cornmarket, Belfasto Relax on a Metro deckchair at Cornmarket and enjoy this free, top notch street theatre festival, full of acrobatics, juggling, and laugh out loud comedy with shows from 12-6pm. Festival of Fools runs from 2nd-6th May and offers a fantastic day out for family and friends.• Saturday 11th May, Tiny Tots Day at Belfast Zooo Bring along your tiny tots and enjoy a family day out at the Zoo. Take time to relax on the Metro deckchairs as you stroll through the Zoo.• Saturday 1st June, Ground Espresso Belfasto An exclusive offer for Metro Smart Saturdays’ passengers at the chain’s city centre outlets.• Saturday 8th June, Face-painting at City Hall, Belfast City Hallo Complimentary face painting sessions for all the family to enjoy a great fun day out.• Saturday 22nd June, Make-up demonstrations, Belfast City Hallo Complimentary make-up sessions within the grounds at Belfast City Hall.

The Metro Smart Saturday fare was first introduced in June 2011 and ran initially for one month. This proved to be very successful and it has since gone on to be repeated five times, the most recent in February 2013 as part of the Backin Belfast campaign.  The sixth occasion for the special £2 day ticket or £1 child which entitles the user to multiple journeys all on one ticket (after 9.30am) starts on Saturday 4th May and runs until Saturday 29th June inclusive.
