Argentinean label Doña Paula launches in NI

United Wine Merchants has announced the introduction of Doña Paula, the award-winning Argentinean wine label, into the Northern Ireland marketplace.

Doña Paula wines are crafted in the cold climate and stony, mineral soils of the Finca Alluvia in Gualtallary, in Argentina’s Uco Valley, at an altitude of 1350 metres.  The Lurgan-based supplier will now supply Doña Paula to the local on and off trade. 

Commenting on the latest addition Martin McAuley, Managing Director of United Wine Merchants said:

To support its introduction Doña Paula’s Vineyard and Winemaking Director Edgardo Del Popolo paid a visit to Northern Ireland to lead a series of tutored tastings of the New World label. With over twenty years experience Edgardo is a veteran of Argentina’s winemaking industry and one of the most respected and consulted agronomists in his home country.  His speciality is selecting the best suited sites for the different cultivars and he has focused primarily on the Upper Uco Valley, now recognised as the most exciting grape-growing region on the new Argentine viticulture map.  He has also been a wine judge three times in the prestigious Argentina Wine Awards.

United Wine Merchants will distribute two varietals of the Los Cardos range; the Los Cardos Sauvignon Blanc and the Los Cardos Malbec, retailing at £7.99 and two from the Estate range; the Estate Malbec and Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, retailing at £9.99.
