ACCA reminds people to remember to renew their tax credits

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Ireland is reminding those who are eligible for tax credits to get their renewal in as soon as possible or risk losing their credits. The deadline for renewal is 31 July.

Brian McGuire, ACCA Ulster branch said: “Tax credits are there to help lower earners and the money received through tax credits can make a huge difference. It’s important you renew your application as soon as possible.

“If you do not renew your application or inform HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) of any changes in circumstances you could receive the wrong amount or lose your credits completely. The onus is on the individual to tell HMRC so they can ensure you receive the correct amount. Failing to do so could land you in trouble with the taxman and leave you out of pocket.”

You can renew your tax credits online, visit http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/index.htm for more information. For further information please contact Shane Finnegan on 028 9066 3000ENDs
