Lurgan-based drinks supplier United Wine Merchants is toasting success having been appointed agency supplier for the prestigious Lanson champagne label. United Wines will now distribute the iconic Lanson Black label and the new-look Pink Coated Lanson Rosé, the UK’s best selling rosé champagne, to both the on and off trade in Northern Ireland.

The announcement also coincides with the launch of the new Lanson White Label, a new style of champagne released to complement the existing Black and Rose Label champagnes.  This is the first champagne specifically designed to allow consumers to experiment with different aromas and will be launched initially as an on trade exclusive. Welcoming the announcement, Martin McAuley, Managing Director of United Wine Merchants said: “Lanson is a truly iconic champagne label and United Wines is privileged to be the distributor of this throughout Northern Ireland.  Lanson Black label is an exceptional, well-established champagne and we know the Lanson Rosé has also proved very popular amongst the rose-drinking demographic. 

“This is also a very exciting time for Lanson as we welcome the new Lanson White Label.  This is a more informal style of champagne suitable for any occasion and for drinking at any time of day.  Its sweeter style permits experimenting with fruit to further enhance the wonderful flavours.  We are anticipating extremely high demand for this innovative range, alongside the more established classic champagnes.”

Still a family-run House, Lanson takes great care to craft its champagnes and create consistency of style year after year. Unlike many other Houses, Lanson insist on three years’ cellar ageing; more than double the minimum required. As a result the champagne is crisp, fresh and uplifting, with an exceptional purity of fruit. Tasting notes for each Label are provided below

Lanson Black LabelA truly uplifting non-vintage brut champagne, with an exceptional purity of fruit, Lanson Black Label is mouthwatering and uplifting, is great as an aperitif and can be drunk at anytime - there's no need for an excuse!

To the eye: Black Label’s brilliant colour recalls the characteristic straw tones of the Pinot Noir, with glints of amber. It is lively in the flute, with a fine stream of persistent bubbles.

On the nose: Fresh aromas combine the impression of vitality and spring-time scents, together with hints of ‘toast’ and honey.

On the palate: Bouquets of ripe fruits and citrus create a sensation of opulence yet lightness.

Pink Coated Lanson RoseA lightly hued, fragrant and delightful rosé champagne perfect for any occasion, Lanson Rose is a perfect accompaniment to any romantic spring or summer occasion and is delicious served with fresh red berry desserts or simply on its own.

To the eye: Lanson Rose Label has a beautiful pure colour with pale salmon touches.

On the nose: Aromas of roses and fruit predominate, with discrete notes of red berries.

On the palate: The initial impression is tender, well-rounded and fresh. This wine has harmonious balance and good length on the finish.

Lanson White LabelA new style of champagne but one that remains faithful to the House style, Lanson White Label is fresh, zesty and refreshing but with a softer, off-dry character that makes it incredibly drinkable.

To the eye: A brilliant golden straw colour with glints of amber

On the nose: An expressive aroma of springtime scents, and hints of toast and honey

On the palate: An expression of lively ripe fruit flavours and a vibrant citrus finish on the palate
